Inclusive Orthodoxy Newsletter
October, 2007

To the saints of Cyberspace who are also faithful in Christ Jesus: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Updates:

So much excitement this month! This past Saturday I went on a walk with Episcopal Charities, an outreach organization in the Diocese of California. The event brought in over $30,000 for the various organizations which receive grants from Episcopal Charities to feed, clothe, shelter, and provide necessary services to individuals in need in the San Francisco Bay Area. If you’d like to learn more about Episcopal Charities and how you can get involved or support their work visit www.episcopalcharities.org.

This month, the national gay newsmagazine Instinct will be honoring me and my work in their 2007 “Leading Men of the Year” issue. Each year they profile twenty-five influential men making a difference within the gay community -- whether it be through charity work, in the government, their local community, film, TV, music or the online community. Past leading men who have been featured include GLAAD's Neil Giuliano, HRC president Joe Solmonese, Tim Gunn (of "Project Runway"), Michael Stipe (R.E.M.), Trent Vanegas (Pink Is The New Blog), and Rufus Wainwright to just name a few. The November issue of Instinct magazine will be on newsstands October 25, so be sure to check it out!

LGBT Christian Books and Movies

In the September newsletter I mentioned Alex Sanchez’s book, God Box, which was coming out this month. Well, it’s now available and can be ordered through Amazon. Click Here to visit the Amazon page.

Can the love between two people ever be an abomination? Is the chasm separating gays and lesbians and Christianity too wide to cross? Is the Bible an excuse to hate? A documentary called For the Bible Tells Me So was just released in theatres this past week. I saw it with my boyfriend Saturday night—it was phenomenal. For more info or to find a theatre near you visit: www.forthebibletellsmeso.org.

Quote for Reflection:

He said, "Come to the edge." I said, "I can't." He said, "Come to the edge." I said, "I can't, I'll fall." He said finally, "Come to the edge." And I came, and he pushed me. And I flew.
