any
gays have tried to change their sexual orientation
through prayer, counseling, exorcisms, and even such
extreme ends as shock therapy. There is no
scientific evidence that such therapy is effective,
and in fact most therapists, psychologists, and
psychotherapists warn people of the emotional and
psychological dangers of so called “reparative
therapy.”
Additionally, American Academy of Pediatrics, the
American Counseling Association, the American
Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological
Association, the National Association of School
Psychologists, and the National Association of
Social Workers have all asserted that homosexuality
is not a mental disorder and that there is no need
for a “cure.” For more information visit
